Maitland Trail Association – Hybrid Cycling Outings
Enjoy scenic trails in the area by hybrid bicycle. We will be offering 4 rides in the fall. These rides are a new offering for MTA on a trial basis. We are running the rides the second and fourth Sunday each month in September and October.

Difficulty – Moderate. Average speed 12 kph.
Maximum number of cyclist – 15. Pre-Registered persons have priority placement.

Ride is cancelled if there is active rain at start time, winds over 50km, temperature less than 10C or over 28C
Bring a hybrid bicycle in good condition, bike helmet, dress for the weather and bring a water bottle.
Maitland Trail waivers are available at maitlandtrail.ca and are required for the ride. These must be filled out in advance of the ride.

Sunday, September 12, 1:30 pm Ride 1 12.2 km G2G- Menesetung Siding Start/Finish to McGaw Siding Return starts at End of River Ridge Crescent in ACW. No services on route.
Park at River Ridge Crescent in ACW Access the Menesetung siding on the G2G for the start location of your ride. Travel east for 6.1 km to McGaw sideroad where we will enjoy a brief rest period. There is a slight incline heading away from the lake but you will enjoy the slight decline on the return. Be sure to visit Tiger Dunlop’s Tomb to learn about some local history and take in the beautiful view of the Menesetung bridge and Lake Huron. Preregistration contact Sally Brodie 226-378-1648
Sunday, September 26, 1:30 pmRide 2 23.2 km 2G McGaw Siding Start/Finish, ACW to Goderich Beach – Return Services at Goderich Beach
Meet at McGaw Siding on G2G, 911#81652 Lucknow Line, Ashfield Colborne Wawanosh (ACW) heading West for 12 km to Goderich Harbour and return to the start for a total of 23.2 km. Enjoy a sweeping vista approaching Goderich and from the Menesetung Bridge. There will be a refreshment break in the Goderich Harbour area. The trip is downhill to Goderich and generally uphill to the finish. Pace yourself! Preregistration contact Con Melady 519-524-8730
Sunday, October 10, 1:30 pm Ride 3 12.2 km G2G McGaw Siding Start/Finish Maitland River, Windy Hill Return Hills Rd, Sharpes Creek Line No services on this route. Significant hill climb km 5.1 to 6.4.
Meet at McGaw Siding on G2G, 911#81652 Lucknow Line, Ashfield Colborne Wawanosh (ACW) heading East to the Maitland River then South up the Moore Mile to Hills Rd and return to the G2G to finish back at McGaw. Preregistration contact Sally Brodie 226-378-1648
Sunday, October 24, 1:30 pm Ride 4 19.9 km G2G McGaw Siding Start/Finish, Maitland River, Windy Hill, Little Lake to Balls Bridge Return Hill No services on this route. Significant hill climb km 5.1 to 6.4.
Meet at McGaw Siding on G2G, 911#81652 Lucknow Line, Ashfield Colborne Wawanosh (ACW) heading East to the Maitland River, return to Heron Line and then South up the Moore Mile (big climb!) continuing on River Line to Little Lakes Rd and the Maitland River at Balls Bridge(km 10.5). We’ll take a break here and return to the top of Windy Hill via Litttle Lakes Rd and River Line, then go West on Hills Rd (big downhill!) to Sharpes Creek Line, North to G2G and west to finish back at McGaw.
