Compost For Sale
Alas, thanks to the provincial COVID-19 shut-down, we have had to cancel our Spring Plant Sale again this year.😢
All is not lost. We will once again have a supply of lovely compost, bagged and ready for sale (for the bargain price of $5.00 per bag), to raise funds for the John Hindmarsh Environmental Trust Fund and the Maitland Trail Association.
The sale will begin at 9 a.m., on Sunday May 2nd, in the middle of the Columbus Centre’s parking lot. There is ample room there for cars to line up, ready to drive up to the pile of bags. You are asked to stay in your car until it is your turn. Wearing your mask, you will then load as many bags as you want into your vehicle, pay for them, and then drive off, triumphant, with this year’s gift for your garden.
**There will be volunteers on hand to help lift the bags, if needed. We are hoping that all of the bags will be sold by 2:00 p.m. For questions, please call Susan Chan at (519) 524-2804 OR on May 2nd, phone (519) 525-9742
There will also be small-group, guided hikes along the Maitland Woods Trail starting at 1 p.m. Please remain masked until the hike sets out, and then they may be removed, as long as you stay socially distanced.
If you are one of the kind gardeners who had already potted your surplus plants for the sale, you have not worked in vain. Two later gardening events will give them a warm welcome. For information, a) Phone Betty Hendricks at 519-524-6516 to donate them to the Goderich Horticultural Society’s annual plant sale on May 15th or b) Phone Rhea Hamilton-Seeger (519) 612-1201 to donate them to the Auburn horticultural society’s plant sale on May 29th.
We’ll see you on May 2nd. Meanwhile, happy spending time outdoors – gardening and walking.
